Some times I wonder why people ain’t what they say they are, have you ever wondered why?I want to believe that every one with low self esteem has this issues. Well, These are probably some of the reasons.
Low Self Esteem: This is when people do not believe in themselves, their dreams, determinations, it’s when people look down on themselves, because they are not happy with the person they actually are . This feeling is very depressing and can cause series of life threatening depression and blood pressure.
Trauma : Many people experience traumas which cause shame, self loathing and guilt.
These don't have to be traumas as serious as being molested or witnessing a death. It could be a little thing, such as a father being critically objective or a deceptive friends,or a serious illness.
Whatever the trauma, some people develop very deep, core beliefs of who they are. Negative beliefs like:
I'm not good enough, I'm not smart, I'm not deserving of kindness or love, I'm a mistake ,I am not important, I'm not competent.
To protect themselves from further trauma and hide their pain, some people act in ways they normally wouldn't. It's not even intentional. They may try to be the idea of an absolutely perfect person. Whatever they do, it "numbs" the pain of the person having to deal with trauma or things related to the experience they had.
By not being their "authentic self" they think they are controlling their lives and the people around them. Control is very important and when the facade cracks, you will see the anger, sadness and desperation and depression behind the pretense.
Societal Believes: It's really insane what the society has turned some people, they believe if you can't beat them you join them, this is an unhealthy form of self-preservation, people who pretend to be who they're not are looking for validation from society, recognition and others, not from within themselves.
"Perhaps it's impossible to wear an identity without becoming what you pretend to be"

This is a really interesting post, I've seen many people faking who they are and it is something really sad, because that way they can hurt others, but especially themselves.
